Advent Angels and Christmas Trees

The Aylsham & District Team Ministry is set to launch its “Advent Calendar” event using our beautiful church porches. Throughout the month of December, a different porch will open their doors each day to reveal an Advent Angel installation.

Inspired by a similar idea first used in beach huts in Brighton, eighteen churches and two schools in Aylsham and surrounding villages will unveil their creative ideas. Local schools, organisations, artists, and church families will be celebrating all God’s gifts as they work together to produce twenty thought-provoking installations in this inspirational season leading up to Christmas.

We will be seeking to remind people of the true meaning of Advent and Christmas, as they take the opportunity to pause for thought and reflection in what is always a busy time. Each church will be offering something different. There will be a schedule of openings on our website, social media platforms and posters.  The first porch to be revealed will be in Buxton on December 1st , the last porch will be Cawston on Christmas Eve and for Aylsham itself, the porch is set to be revealed on December 11th

You can look forward to the delights of the festive season with mince pies, mulled wine, hot chocolate, carols and so much more.

Our porches are doorways and entrances to our church buildings and schools. As you follow the Advent Angels around the Aylsham & District Team Ministry this December you will be warmly welcomed and invited to discover more of the riches of the season as we get ready to welcome the Christ Child in our Christmas celebrations.

At the beginning of Advent, the town of Aylsham will enjoy the Christmas Lights Switch On, Friday 26th November and this is the first night when Aylsham Parish Church will open their doors for people to come and see the trees. This year we are having to limit the numbers in church and so there will be a ticket system such that people are allocated a time slot for their visit.  Tickets can be obtained on the night from our stall at the market place entrance to the churchyard (near Biddy's Tearoom).

The tree festival will run through to Tuesday 30th November so there will be plenty of opportunity to come and see the trees beautifully decorated and lit up by the many charity organisations we are supporting.
